Cold Air Hair- How to combat it

Cold Air Hair- How to combat it

Starting from October up until March, lots of excitement is happening. The holiday season has begun and everything is busy! Your hair may not have to deal with humidity and rain but there are problems that start in those cold months: dry scalp and dry hair.

Problem #1: Dry Scalp

-Nothing is more frustrating than looking in the mirror and seeing dry flaky skin decorating your scalp. So what causes this? When we run back and forth between our warm cozy homes to cold outdoor air, your scalp and hair have a more difficult time retaining moisture. The extreme differences in temperature irritate and dry out your scalp the same way your hands get dry and cracked in the winter. It’s itchy, uncomfortable, and doesn’t look good. Moisture hair line for cold weather

So what helps this?: Try using a moisturizing conditioner and cut down the amount of times you shampoo your hair. A lot of shampoos dry out your hair and scalp so a moisture intensive formula can help prevent dryness. Neuma has its’ neuMoisture collection that focuses solely on moisturizing and hydrating. NeuMoisture shampoo restores any moisture that is lost and makes your hair feel super soft. The neuMoisture conditioner creates a protective barrier around your hair to protect the moisture that is already present in the hair. If you need something more intensive our salon offers scalp therapy. This service exfoliates your scalp to combat dandruff or anything more serious. So don’t worry everyone! You can prevent your skin from shedding annoying flakes so that you stay looking fabulous through the colder months!

Problem #2: Dry Dead Hair

-So we’ve conquered dry scalps but now unto the hair! Our hair goes through a lot during the holiday season. It gets curled, straightened, colored, permed, and who knows what else! Although all those things help us look good in the moment, it can really mess up our hair in the long run. Strands dry out and end up looking dead and brittle.

-So what can we do? Well number #1, moisturize! Our hair is practically screaming for some hydration when we put heat to it. Hair masks can be a really great solution! In Neuma’s neuMoisture collection, they have the intensive masque that dramatically restores hair’s moisture even when it seems like it’s too late. Just apply after shampooing for 2-3 minutes and rinse. Another great product to use would be Neuma’s neuRepair Argan Oil! Similar to the masque, the argan oil directly applies oil to your hair strands to get it a smooth and healthy. After you’ve restored that moisture, make sure to use a heat protectant such as Neuma’s blowdry lotion to prevent damage to your hair. Luckily for all of us, all of Neuma’s hair products contain a heat protectant to ensure we get great hair without damage. That cold air won’t put a damper on your hair!
